It was thought just like with new Lions coach Matt Patrica that the Colts were going to be able to snag Pats OC Josh McDaniels as their new head coach.
Indianapolis went so far as to tweet out that they had agreed to terms with McDaniels, and announced a 4pm Wednesday press conference to introduce him to the media.

Not so fast.
In a crazy turn of events, Adam Schefter of ESPN tweeted out Tuesday night that McDaniels has decided to stay with the Pats, which could mean that he’s already been promised the head coaching job when/if Bill Belichick decides to walk away from the team.
When that will be is anyone’s guess, but there’s got to be more to the story as to why McDaniels is now going to stay with the Patriots.
Stay tuned.
Stunner: Patriots’ OC Josh McDaniels has decided NOT to accept Colts’ HC job and will remain with New England, sources told ESPN.
