Bills Vs Patriots: 3 Matchups To Watch

The biggest question for this game that will kick off at 1pm ET on Sunday thanks to Denver losing to Cincinatti and giving the Pats the first – round bye, is will the starters play and how much?

I think Rob Gronkowski should not play one minute in the game, but history tells us Belichick will use his starters but who knows how much. Some people are guessing he will pull them at half, but I have no clue, guess we will see, but it does make these preview segments I do harder because I have no idea who will play.

1. DE Mario Williams Vs OT Sebastian Vollmer: Williams will move around on the line so Solder and Vollmer will both deal with him. Williams is a great final test for the OL before the playoffs to see if they can and will improve their protection that has been terrible the past few weeks. Williams has 13.5 sacks, 2 FF, and 1 KB this season. This is a huge matchup and an important one. The Pats have to protect Brady when he’s in there so not only can he and the Pats score touchdowns but also to keep him healthy. When Garoppollo is in and if he plays I’m certain he would love time to throw the football and fans would love to know the line can block again.

2. CB Leodis McKelvin Vs WR Danny Amendola: I think Amendola will get extensive work for the 2nd straight week because even if Edelman does play he won’t play long. They need Edelman 100% and he didn’t play against the Jets because he was a little dinged up so I doubt he plays this week and if he does it won’t be for the entire game.  Amendola will play in his place again and get a lot of looks no matter the QB. Amendola did good last week against the Jets and now he will face Bills McKelvin and get a nice matchup before the postseason. Amendola needs to have another good week and play very well against the Bills if he wants some extra looks once Edelman and the postseason returns.

3. WR Sammy Watkins Vs CB Malcolm Butler: Revis will be on Watkins when Revis is out there, but if they do eventually sit the starters, it will be very interesting to see who plays in place of Revis. Will it be Dennard or Butler? That will be so interesting to see how they step up for Revis on Sunday. If Revis plays the whole game I expect to see more of the same and that’s a good thing because he’ll be shutting down Watkins.
