Patriots say Hernandez, Belichick exchanged 34 text messages

Bristol prosecutors released documents on Monday, saying Belichick and Hernandez exchanged 33 pages of text messages.

I thought that was a lot of text messages between a coach and a player in just a 3 month time frame.

But, Friday, the Patriots are disputing those claims.

“Earlier this week, a report indicated that an exchange of text messages between the team’s head coach and Mr. Hernandez totaled 33 pages,” a lawyer for the team, Andrew Phelan, wrote in a statement. “While it is unknown how the texts were printed or displayed, I thought it was important to clarify that during an early investigation conducted by state prosecutors, the team produced a total of 34 text messages, not pages of texts.”

He also said the messages were not from February to May, instead it was a 5 month period from Decemeber 2012 to April 2013.

Also on Monday, the filings revealed Belchick, Robert Kraft, and several other Patriots employees were interviewed by investigators. The authorities also searched Hernandez’s football locker.

The Patriots turned over 317 pages of Hernandez’s medical records to Hernandez’s defense lawyers, but refused to turn over scouting reports or a psychological report prepared before the 2010 NFL draft.
