Former Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker returned to New England 3 days ago to attend a meet and greet event with hair replacement surgeon Dr. Robert Leonard (The guy that did Welker’s hair treatment 2 yrs ago) at Jerry Remy’s on Boylston Street.

When asked about Tom Brady and how long the QB could play, Welker said he could go into his 40s without anymore surgeries.

“If anybody can do it, it’s Tom,” Welker said of the 36-year-old Brady. “I mean, he put the time in, not only physically and mentally and everything else, but the way he eats, the way he sleeps, the way he does everything. He does it so he can play for a very long time. I think what he did in his 20s and 30s are going to carry on into his 40s.

“The amount of work that he put into it, I think it’s pretty obvious that he’s going to get that back out of it in his later years.”

Welker also talked about the similarities between his current QB Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.

“They’re both very on top of what they need to do,” Welker said. “They’re both very competitive and want to go out there and be the best. The way they hold guys accountable and the way they go about their business, it’s pretty easy to see why they’re the best at what they do.”

He also commented that the respect and friendship between Manning and Brady is at a place where they can share ideas.

“They even pull things from each other,” Welker said. “?‘All right, how do you do this? How do you do that?’ I think it’s good to do things like that, to find a way to get better. That’s what makes those guys great. They always try to find ways to get better.”

Welker also talked about the Broncos and Patriots exciting off-season.

“I was more excited for the acquisitions we made, not necessarily the ones New England made,” Welker said. “But I was excited about the ones we did get: DeMarcus Ware, T.J. Ward, Aqib (Talib), and Emmanuel Sanders are all going to be pivotal players for our season next year.”

Welker also stated he has no ill will for Belichick after Belichick accused him of injuring Aqib Talib on purpose during the Patriots AFC Title Game loss to the Broncos last season.

Who has a better shot at playing into their 40s, Tom Brady or Peyton Manning?
