It sounds like the youth movement is taking over the Patriots as one of the few veteran receivers was released from the team on Thursday. Michael Jenkins, a 31-year-old receiver, was terminated from the team. Jenkins previously played with the Falcons and the Vikings but seemed a little out of his prime and not a right fight for this Josh McDaniels offense.
Michael Jenkins worked with the starting unit most of training camp but struggled to stay healthy and make a significant impact. It now looks like Brady’s top five receivers will consist of Danny Amendola, Julian Edelman, and the freshman trio.
Aaron Dobson, Kenbrell Thompkins, and Josh Boyce comprise this new young receiver group and possibly future stars of the NFL. It may take time for this trio of youngsters to round into form, but the organization continues to show a ton of confidence in them. Actions always speak loudest.
