Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick opened today’s press conference talking about the victim Odin Lloyd, and his family. “It’s a sad day, it’s a really a sad day on so many levels. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim and I extend my sympathy, really, to everyone that’s been impacted. A young man lost his life. And his family’s suffered a tragic loss and there’s no way to understate that. When I was out of the country, I learned about the ongoing criminal investigation that involved one of our players. I and other members were shocked and disappointed. Having someone in your organization involved in a murder investigation is a terrible thing. After consultation with ownership, we acted swiftly and decisively.”
Belichick mentioned that the team had no knowledge of a double murder that took place in 2012 in Florida, allegedly involving Hernandez.
After his 7 minute opening statement, Belichick did not answer many questions involving Hernandez, saying he had been advised not to comment on an ongoing legal proceedings.
Belichick gave a 22 minute press conference, and every question was about Aaron Hernandez, except for one that was about Dennard, which Belichick responded, “can’t comment.”
