Tom Brady back to work with a new cast of wide receivers

Tom Brady was working with his new receivers on the second day of the team’s OTA’s, this was the first one open to the media. Tom Brady spent a majority of his first-team reps with Danny Amendola as his slot receiver, but rotated the other wide-outs, Donald Jones and Michael Jenkins, as well as rookies Aaron Dobson and Josh Boyce.

Brady worked one-on-one with Amendola and Jenkins while the rest of the team was focused on special teams drills. Jenkins and Amendola worked the most with Brady.

Amendola looked quick in his route running, and caught the ball well today.

Michael Jenkins had a tough time catching the ball today, but did get behind the defense for a long completion.

Aaron Dobson was a player that stood out, he grabbed a Tom Brady pass in the air, between two defenders, and followed up later on with a dazzling sliding catch. Dobson is quickly making his mark at wide-out.

Leon Washington looked good, and showed how quick he was when returning kickoffs.

Backup QB Ryan Mallett had a rough day. He wasn’t getting through his reads quick enough, and threw a number of inaccurate passes.

Tight end Jake Ballard had to be stretched out at one point, after cramping up during drills.

LB Dont’a Hightower had a defensive highlight in today’s practice, he picked off backup QB Ryan Mallett.

Notable players missing were TE Rob Gronkowski, Wr Julian Edelman, LB Brandon Spikes, and RB Brandon Bolden.
