New England Patriots Super Bowl Champs

Tom Brady Leading the Race For MVP?

If Tom Brady is not leading the race for NFL MVP this season then he should be. Brady is having a magnificent season thus far. The biggest competition I see Brady having is Peyton Manning who Brady beat in a head to head match up earlier this season. The Patriots 3 losses have been by a combine of four points and in the four losses New England should have won all of them. A missed field goal against the Cardinals, defense blowing it on the last drive versus the Ravens, and the offense’s inability to close a game out along with the defense giving up a deep pass to the Seahawks for the win has cost the Patriots an undefeated season as we speak. Tom Brady will clinch the MVP in my opinion if he beats the Houston Texans and the San Francisco 49ners in back to back prime time games since it will feature two of the stoutest defenses heading into Foxborough for a showdown of who is the best team in the NFL.

The other contender for the MVP is Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning by the numbers is having a great season back after sitting last season out with a neck injury while Rodgers is doing his part for his Packers and Brees is having a good season, but uncharacteristically turning it over more this season. Here are the top four contender’s numbers this season.

Manning: 3,260 passing yards. 26 Touchdowns. 8 Interceptions. 3 Fumbles. QB rating of 104.8.

Rodgers: 2,838 passing yards. 28 Touchdowns. 7 Interceptions. 3 Fumbles. QB rating of 105.6.

Brees: 3,674 passing yards. 31 Touchdowns. 16 Interceptions. 5 Fumbles. QB rating of 92.1.

Brady: 3,299 passing yards. 24 Touchdowns. 3 Interceptions. 1 Fumbles. QB rating of 105.2.

Tom Brady’s TD/Int Ratio is incredible with only 3 interceptions through 11 games this season as it shows how effective and accurate Brady has been. When you think about who Tom Brady is throwing his 24 touchdown passes too it makes this season even more special for the 35 year old QB. Manning has Decker and Thomas and granted they are not the best wide outs but they are solid deep threats. Rodgers has Nelson, Jones, and is now hoping to get back Greg Jennings while Brees has Colston, and Moore. Brady has Welker, Edelman, and Lloyd as his wide outs with no deep threat to speak of as Lloyd was suppose to be but has been disappointing in that part of his play and he hasn’t brought much to this New England offense with his only real accomplishment being another route runner to the team that is full of them. Brady is leading the NFL’s first ranked offense and might have them rewriting the record books with points in a season with New England averaging 30 points a game. Tom Brady should be a front runner for the league’s MVP if he isn’t right now then if he pulls off two victories against two top five defenses in two weeks that should lock up the MVP  for the already 2x NFL MVP.
