The New England Patriots send defensive end Chandler Jones to the Arizona Cardinals for offensive guard Jonathan Cooper and a 2nd round pick.

The Patriots get an experienced Guard for the offensive line and a very needed extra 2nd round draft pick.

Chandler Jones would have been in his final year of contract for the Patriots along with Dont’a Hightower, Jamie Collins, and Malcolm Butler.

Jones, Patriots former 1st round 2012 draft pick, would have been an $8 million dollar cap hit.

Jones had 44 tackles, 12.5 sacks, 4 FR, 1 interception, and 2 passes defended in 15 games in the 2015 season. He added 5 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 FF during the team’s two game postseason.

Jones played in 55 games during his four year career with the Patriots, recording 211 tackles, 36 sacks, 10 FF, 2 FR, 1 interception, and 9 passes defended.

Cooper was Arizona’s first-round draft pick in 2013 (7th overall,) but injuries have derailed what could have been a great short career in Arizona.
