The Patriots will need at least three key players to step up against the Dolphins if they are to clinch the number one overall seed.
1. FS Duron Harmon:
If McCourty can’t go Harmon will need a much better outing Sunday than he did last week. He was late to almost every throw leaving Ryan out to dry against Brandon Marshall. He has to step up if the Pats are to beat Miami and hold Jarvis Landry in check. The backup safety play has to be so much better this week. Keep an eye on Harmon and his play this week as it will be critical.
2. WR Keshawn Martin:
I have been saying Edelman may play because the rumors are Edelman may play at least a few series this Sunday, but don’t expect too much as the Pats just want him to get back in the feel and groove of the game for the playoffs. A wide receiver will need to step up for the lack of Amendola and Edelman and that person needs to be Martin. He had a pretty good game last week and he needs an even better one this week. Tom Brady needs someone getting open fast to put up some points. LaFell will be covered by Miami’s best secondary player, so Martin needs to create madness.
3. OL Marcus Cannon:
Not exactly his best year or any of the offensive linemen, but this Sunday he will probably be on Brady’s blindside since Vollmer is down for at least a week. Miami can put some heat on the QB so Cannon needs to keep Brady’s back side as clean as possible. If the line plays better the Patriots will have no problem and Cannon needs to live up to his potential.
