The Patriots will try to clinch the number one overall seed this Sunday when they face AFC East Rivals Miami Dolphins. The Patriots have talked all week about how important it is to secure the number one spot going into the postseason so assume the starters will play.
1. CB Logan Ryan Vs WR Jarvis Landry:
I think this was the matchup the last time, but the Pats may go in a different way if Safety Devin McCourty doesn’t play. Ryan has struggled without good safety play, so this matchup will be huge because Landry is the number one target and the most dangerous target of the Miami Dolphins offense. Shutting him down is a must so Ryan needs a bounce back game.
2. OL Tre Jackson Vs DT Ndamukong Suh:
The entire line for the Patriots will be put on notice to Suh and the entire Dolphins defense. Jackson, Mason, Fleming, and Cannon all have to step up to protect Brady, something they haven’t done in a while. I kinda wish Andrews would play center and we would move Stork to one of the guard spots since he’s played it before and done well. But, this may be what we get and if they do the OL needs to dig deep and figure things out because the last person you want hitting Tom Brady is Suh. Jackson needs a big time game.
3. RB Steven Jackson Vs LB Jelani Jenkins:
Jenkins is their do everything linebacker and ring leader in stopping the run, something they didn’t do well against veteran Frank Gore last weekend. The Patriots need to try to run the ball and be able to have a few successful runs heading into the postseason. It will be interesting to see Jackson trying to run through the Dolphins and Jenkins, which he needs to do to help Brady.
