The Patriots will host their final home game of the 2015 season this Sunday when the Titans arrive to play some football at 1:00 pm EST on CBS.
The Titans are simply trying to finish the season out on a high note, while the Pats are trying to clinch a first-round bye which they can do so by winning this game and Denver losing to Pittsburgh.
Let’s get to the previewing shall we?
The Titans are not a team I have paid very much attention to, but I do know they love to run the QB and throw to their tight end. They have some really big and physically intimidating wide outs. Their game plan will be run as much as possible and throw to their tight end and get big plays from their wide outs.
The Patriots defense will first and foremost stop the run from the running back and the QB. Nink, whose had a slight problem with running QBs because he over purses, will have to learn to stay in his lane along with Jones and Sheard. The Titans give up a lot of sacks, so the Pats will blitz a lot in this game, banking on the fact they will get home more times than not. They will also look to match up Butler on Justin Hunter, Ryan on Green-Beckham with safety help and Leonard on Harry Douglas. Just a guess, but they have to focus on Green-Beckham and the deep plays. They will also put Patrick Chung on TE Delanie Walker a match up they have to win which will be priority number two. If Chung can’t play, CB Justin Coleman may be back and may draw this match up. To sum up, stop the run, stop Walker, and blitz.
The Titans defense can get to the Quarterbacks, especially when they blitz, but they don’t play overall very well. They give up good chunks in the run and pass, but they will sell out, I’m sure to stop the pass.
The Patriots on offense will try to mix it up in this game. Bolden will be the featured back to test the Titans defense and he might have success. This is still a pass first team, so expect plenty of pass attempts, hopefully quick passes and screens to defeat the blitz. We will see, this should be a team the Patriots score on and team they should be able to keep away from Brady, if they can’t I don’t think they can block any defense.
