The Patriots play host to the Philadephia Eagles this Sunday in a game that features Chip Kelly versus Bill Belichick with two teams heading in two different directions.
The Patriots made a few moves to keep this a busy week. You can see those moves here.
The Patriots want to get back to winning after dropping their first loss of the season, and to do that, these three players must step up.
1. CB Logan Ryan:
Ryan had one of his best performances Sunday Night against Denver’s Thomas, who only caught one pass on 12 targets. Ryan will likely face Nelson Agholor. They matchup speed and height wise, but Ryan can handle bigger guys like Cooper if the Pats go that way. Either way, Ryan has to play well again this week to help slow down a team that relies on completions to go faster which is something the Patriots do not want. Taking away one of their better wide outs will help get the Eagles off the field as fast as they get on the field.
2. LB Jamie Collins:
The Patriots really need Collins if Hightower can’t go Sunday and last Sunday night proved how important he and Hightower are to the team, especially the run defense. If he can play, he has to stop the run and play the pass to the running back Sproles. Sproles is their only big play running back in the passing game, so preventing that will be huge. The Eagles would love to get going on the ground with Murray, so stopping him is another key, to prevent them from doing whatever they want to do.
3. OL Cameron Fleming:
Fletcher Cox has five sacks on the season and the Eagles love to attempt to put pressure on the QB. They aren’t the best team at it and the OL needs to handle it because Brady should pick apart this defense if he has time. Fleming is a big deal in this game as the Pats need him and Cannon to take on Cox most likely and stifle him. Giving Brady one less player to worry about will all work out nicely for the Pats.
