Monday Night Football for the Patriots! It’s the first one of the season and it will be against the Buffalo Bills and Rex Ryan, a 5-4 team.
I’ll be breaking down how the Pats can move on to 10-0 and put even more separation between themselves and the AFC East division.
These three non Tom Brady players are the key to a successful game for the New England Patriots.
1. WR Danny Amendola:
He’s the most obvious player on the offensive side of the ball everyone will have their eyes on because he will have a much bigger and more important role, filling in for one Julian Edelman. He has to get open and do damage against the Bills for Tom Brady because Brady needs his security blanket in this game and every game. He has to have that one reliable WR he can count on like Edelman, so Amendola will try to be that. The Bills will focus on Gronk, as they have already said, which drew a typical response from the big guy. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had 5 guys on Gronk, they will do everything they can to prevent him from beating them, so Amendola, you are up. He has to beat Ronald Darby. Edelman caught 11 passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns against the Bills earlier this year.
2. LB Dont’a Hightower:
He’s a joy to watch isn’t he? He’s like our very own Ray Lewis on the field. He’s calling plays, changing the defense, being a leader, and an absolute dominate beast on the field. He conducts himself the way you’d want the leader of your defense to conduct themselves off the field. He’s important not only because he calls the plays and gets the players in position but also he’s the best linebacker on the field. He can pass rush and stuff the run and on Monday, he has to do both. Shutting down the speedy Williams and McCoy is a must for Hightower and pressuring Taylor up the gut is also important for passing downs. Hightower has to lead the way.
3. OT Marcus Cannon
If he plays and he might, he will have a tough matchup against Mr. Mario Williams. Brady’s blindside is the most important side to protect, he can’t see the pressure coming, so Cannon has to be effective in this game. If he does play, he doesn’t have time to be rusty. If he doesn’t play, then switch him out for Cameron Fleming. He’s been solid for most of the season, but he will need to step it up for the Pats and Brady. Keeping Brady upright is the most important thing for the offense to be successful.
