The Patriots best wide receiver Julian Edelman went down in the first quarter of the win over the Giants with a broken left foot, according to the Boston Herald.
Reports are saying the injury is the same as WR Dez Bryant’s broken foot earlier in the season. It took Bryant seven weeks to return.
Sources say Edelman will be out a while, but could return for the playoffs.
ESPN’s Mike Reiss reports that Edelman will undergo surgery on the foot.
That is certainly the hope, if the reports are accurate, that Edelman can make it back in time for the postseason.
The Patriots health has been a problem all season and this may have been the biggest blow they have suffered. Edelman is clearly the team’s best WR and Brady depends on him even more than Gronk, so this hurts, but it’s not fatal IF he can return for the postseason.
Amendola and LaFell will have to step up for the Patriots for the remainder of the season, as well as Gronk, to help Tom Brady.
It will be okay though, if Edelman can make it back, so lets all hope and pray he returns for the postseason.
