Here’s the better segment, nobody likes humble pie, but everybody loves doughnuts!
So, without further ado, here are the positions and the players that deserve doughnuts!
1. Running Backs:
They did great! Both running backs were having a day until Dion Lewis went out, hopefully nothing serious. Great day for the ground game. Oh yeah, Bolden came in and scored a touchdown through the air. How about that?
2. Pass Protection:
The line has been thin all season and the Pats have been using different groupings, but one thing remains the same, they are protecting Tom Brady. Vollmer went out with a head injury, but TE Michael Williams, who can play OL, played RT and did pretty good. They held up well enough.
3. Run Defense:
They did good overall. They were a few moments where they could have been better, but overall and over 4 quarters they did great. They are improving every week.
4. Passing Game:
It could have been better, but it worked well enough to help put 27 points on the board and account for 2 touchdowns.
5. Safety Play:
The safeties for the Patriots are awesome! Devin McCourty, Patrick Chung, Duron Harmon, and Jordan Richards all earn doughnuts today! Their play has helped the defense out and I’m not sure there is a better group of safeties in the NFL.
Individual Players who deserve doughnuts.
1. RB LeGarrette Blount:
Blount took over the run duties in the 2nd half and was excellent. He proved he’s still got it and the Pats still have a serviceable ground game. Blount went for 129 yards and a touchdown.
2. TE/OL Michael Williams:
He’s been a blocking tight end for most of the season, but yesterday he had to take over right tackle when Vollmer went down, something I’m sure he wasn’t expecting to do. He did a good job on such short notice, so bravo to him!
3. WR Brandon LaFell:
He was excellent yesterday! He caught 5 passes for 102 yards. Yeah, he was the deep threat and the YAC guy.
4. RG Bryan Stork:
Stork the center now Stork the guard! He played excellent in his return, not allowing a single pressure on QB Tom Brady. Now, that deserves a lot of doughnuts!
5. LT Cameron Fleming:
The young gun is shining! He moved over to left tackle and was more than excellent! Like Bryan Stork, Fleming didn’t allow pressure on Tom Brady! Doughnuts by the bundle buddy!
