Tom Brady and the Patriots will look to continue their hot start to the season, and move on to 8-0 on the season when they meet the Redskins on Sunday afternoon.

I’ve read an article about how the “Redskins should ignore the Patriots, and prepare for the Saints.” It’s funny, I’ll say that, but that’s dangerous for the Patriots, especially if they believe like him and many of us that they will win with no problems. I mean, they might and probably will, but you never want the actual team thinking that because that’s when upsets happen. The Redskins will give it all they got because why not? They aren’t expected to win anyways.

So, in order to avoid an upset this week, the Patriots must win in these three key areas on Sunday.

1. Protect Tom Brady: The Redskins hadn’t been the best at getting to the QB, but they have the talent to, especially at linebacker. They also love to blitz a lot, so we will see if a banged up line can handle that. If they can, then the Pats should score…. A lot.

2. Stop the Run: The Patriots need and want to make Washington one-dimensional because that takes away the play action roll out the Redskins love to do. It will put all of the pressure on Kirk Cousin from within the pocket and that will help the defense.

3. Prevent the Big Plays: The Redskins love the big plays. That’s mainly their passing offense. They will pick up yardage by 15, 20, 25, or more yards at any given time, so the Patriots have to make them throw it short and work their way up the field. They can blitz more since Cousins isn’t really a runner, but they have to get there or he will burn them deep. Taking away the big plays can and will lead to more mistakes by Washington, and in return make it hard for them to score.
