Patriots trade TE Michael Hoomanawanui to the Saints

Michael Hoomanawanui was mostly used as a blocker for the Patriots. He will now join the Saints.

The Patriots have traded tight end Michael Hoomanawanui to the Saints for DE Akiem Hicks, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

Hicks is in his fourth season, and has recorded 120 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 1 FF, and 3 passes defended in 48 games played.

He was drafted in the 3rd round by the Saints in 2012.

He has 2 tackles this year. He was not a starter for the Saints.

Hicks is 6’5 and 324 pounds.
