Bill Belichick addressed the media following Sunday’s win and talked about the game and Tom Brady’s performance.
He was asked about Tom Brady’s play and if he was as sharp as he has ever seen, and Belichick responded in a typical “humble pie” way.
“No, I think there’s a lot of things we can do better. Everybody can do better. I didn’t think it was all that spectacular by anyone, but it was good enough, but we’ve got a lot of room to improve,” Belichick said.
He also said he doesn’t believe he out coached Rex, when asked by the media.
“No, it’s our players,” he said. “Our players went out there and played. They made the plays to win the game and I’d say they probably overcame some not so great coaching on my part. I’ll give the credit to our players. They did a good job. They deserve the credit. They’re the ones that made the plays.”
Belichick also believes the defense can play better, even though they finished with 8 sacks.
“We had our moments. We let them run around a lot too. [Tyrod] Taylor ran around and he scrambled and threw for big yardage. I didn’t think it was all that great,” he stated. “We made some plays and we gave up some plays. It wasn’t very consistent. We’ve got to coach better, be more disciplined and play better. We’ll see it again this upcoming week. We’re going to have to do a better job than we did today.”
