Rex Ryan doesn’t know Dion Lewis, doesn’t even know his name, even though he had big Thursday Night for the Patriots, when the four time Super Bowl Champs defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers.
During Ryan’s press conference, he was asked how New England takes “no name running backs” and makes them successful in their offense. The media called Lewis, “the kid from last week.”
Rex Ryan says they succeed because of who is playing QB for New England.
“It’s the kid that’s playing quarterback. That’ll make it a lot easier to be a running back,” he said. “So what, are you gonna play them in eight-man spacing? I don’t think so. So that’s what makes them — I don’t care, put anybody back there. You can do good there. All right?
Then, he gave a little credit to the Patriots running backs, but not a lot, and stated how he doesn’t even know Dion Lewis’ name.
“Nah, I mean they’re decent backs in their own right. But I don’t think we’re gonna focus on that kid. I can’t even tell you that kid’s name. But you’re gonna focus on the guy throwing the ball, I’ll tell you that much.”
Lewis had 69 rushing yards against the Steelers and added 51 yards on four catches in the Patriots win last Thursday.
Ryan did give out a few compliments to other Patriots besides Tom Brady. He gave Rob Gronkowski credit for being a great actor! Read his comments on the Tight End HERE.
