The New England Patriots and starting left tackle Nate Solder agreed to a 2 year extension worth $20.62 million, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Solder would have been a free agent after this season if the two sides did not agree on an extension.
Solder’s now three-year deal is worth $27.5 million, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
Schefter says one of the terms of the deal is the Patriots cannot use the franchise tag on Solder after the 2017 season.
