Jonas Gray “shocked” the Patriots released him

RB Jonas Gray has been signed to the Miami Dolphins practice squad, the team announced today.

Gray, the RB, who rushed for 201 yards and four touchdowns against the Colts during a regular season game last year for the Patriots, was released by the Patriots last weekend.

He also led all running backs for the Patriots during the team’s preseason, rushing for 107 yards and a touchdown.

James Walker, an ESPN Staff Writer, said Gray expressed shock over being released by the Patriots.

“I was shocked, but at the same time I can’t blame them,” Gray said. “They gotta do what they think is best for the team. I was surprised. I thought I did everything I can to earn a roster spot — not only earn a roster spot, but earn a starting spot. But it didn’t work out my way.”
