The Patriots will play host to the New York Giants in tonight’s preseason finale.
The Pats will play for real next Thursday when the team opens up against the Steelers with Tom Brady at the helm.
The game will be on WBNC (New York) or WBZ (Boston) or listen to it on Boston radio at 98.5 FM, with Scott Zolak and Bob Socci.
Tom Brady won’t play tonight and I wouldn’t expect many starters, if any play tonight. Tonight’s the night for the backups.
Here are the five players to watch tonight.
- WR Jalen Saunders.
The speedy punt returner and wide out the Pats just traded for from the Saints, should be on display tonight and he will be fighting for his spot on the team. We should see him return kicks or punts and that is where he needs to make his impact, at least for now. Look for him to do some nice things tonight.
2. RB Travaris Cadet.
He needs a great night tonight, since he’s behind James White and Dion Lewis for a spot on the team. He hasn’t played all preseason and he really needs to impress tonight.
3. CB Robert McClain.
Tarell Brown and Malcolm Butler have their roster spots locked up and more than that, they have the starting roles locked up. McClain will try to prove himself against Bradley Fletcher and Logan Ryan tonight. He’s a veteran, but his spot isn’t a sure thing.
4. DE Rufus Johnson.
He’s trying his hardest to make the team with a deep line for the Patriots. He’s done all he can in the past three games, having outstanding games. Tonight he has to do it all over again. Watch for him to make an impact.
5. WR Chris Harper.
Interesting what the Pats will do with him. He’s had a good off-season with the team while Dobson hasn’t but I don’t see the Pats giving up on Dobson anytime soon. Harper has to do outstanding to make them think about it.
