The New England Patriots have traded OL Jordan Devey to the San Francisco 49ers for TE Asante Cleveland, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The news was first reported by Matt Maiocco of the CSNBayArea.com
Cleveland is a 2nd year pro from Miami, spent six games on the 49ers 53 man roster last year, but did not catch a pass. He spent the majority of the season on the 49ers practice squad.
During the 49ers pre-season opener this year, he caught 3 passes for 10 yards against the Houston Texans.
Cleveland is 6’5, 260 pound and 23 years old.
Devey was the Patriots week one starting guard.
The Patriots also released LB L.J. Fort, according to The Boston Globe’s Ben Volin.
This news comes after the trade the Pats made, getting rid of Devey and now Fort, means the Pats have one roster spot open.
LJ Fort played 14 snaps in Thursday’s preseason opener against the Packers.
