Tom Brady won’t play during the Patriots-Packers Thursday Night pre-season opener, according to an ESPN source.

ESPN mentions that could change before the 7:30 pm ET kickoff, but the plan for New England is Jimmy Garoppolo will get the start and Ryan Lindley will be the backup.

Brady did not attend today’s practice session due to being in New York for his court hearing against the NFL and their four-game suspension of the QB for deflategate.

First pre-season games may be the least important games for starters and veterans, but it will be a very important game for Garoppolo, especially if he gets a majority of the snaps.
