ESPN’s NFL Nation reporters and ESPN The Magazine contributors polled NFL players on several questions, one being are the Patriots cheaters, and the majority answered “No.”
Over 100 players were polled, 72% believed the Patriots deflated footballs during the AFC Championship Game, however, only 16% were upset by it and 60% believe the Patriots and Tom Brady are not cheaters. Sixty eight percent of players believe other NFL teams tamper with footballs.
80% of players believe Tom Brady’s four-game suspension is too long and 88% believe league discipline should not be determined solely by commissioner Roger Goodell.
The players see this whole “scandal” as an extreme overreaction as do most people who are not solely Patriot haters.
Most players also said they were not still upset about Spygate and that the Patriots will still make the playoffs even if Brady misses the first four-games.
Most players consider holding the most popular form of on the field cheating. They also said cheap shots and deliberate injuries were the most outlandish form of cheating they have witnessed.
