The Patriots held their 10th practice of training camp yesterday, their 6th time in full pads.

Did Not Practice:  WR Aaron Dobson, WR Brandon LaFell, RB LeGarrette Blount, RB Dion Lewis, RB Tyler Gaffney, RB Travaris Cadet, LB Dane Fletcher, LB Eric Martin, LB Darius Fleming, OL Marcus Cannon, OL Ryan Wendell, C Bryan Stork, OL Caylin Hauptmann, DT Joe Vellano, TE Scott Chandler, DT Chris Jones.

Matthew Slater, Brian Tyms, and Julian Edelman all returned to practice. Slater and Tyms wore non-contact red jerseys.

Tom Brady was 17-25 in team drills with two interceptions, including 7-9 during 7-on-7s with an interception and 10-16 with an interception during 11-on-11s.

The interception during 7-on-7s was not Brady’s fault. He threw a pass to Tyms who was not looking, and the pass deflected off him and into the hands of Dont’a Hightower.

The 2nd interception was during 11-on-11s when Malcolm Butler jumped Josh Boyce’s crossing route making a one-handed interception.

Jimmy Garoppolo had maybe his best day at camp, going 16-20 during team drills, including 5-6 during 7-on-7s and 11-14 during 11-on-11s.

New QB Ryan Lindley went 9-19 during team drills with an interception. He was 4-10 during 11-on-11s and 5-9 during 7-on-7s.

Duron Harmon made the interception on a Lindley pass that sailed over the middle.

Butler was outstanding with his best day of camp, making the interception and adding two more pass breakups. He broke up a Brady pass attempt to WR Jonathan Krause on a deep pass and a Lindley to Tyms pass.

Josh Boyce had a bad day, but did make one excellent play that stood out. He went 50 yards deep for a touchdown catch from Brady. He’s getting some heat from the rising star Brandon Gibson.

Brandon Gibson with another excellent day, making the most of Dobson and LaFell missing time. He caught 5 passes from Brady yesterday, tied for the most with Gronk.

Brandon Bolden has had an excellent camp and during the off-season I speculated that the pass-catcher for New England after Vereen departed would be Bolden because I have always liked him and thought he had the talent…. Well, he’s making me look smart. He’s ahead of White and Cadet for the pass-catching duties. He’s proven he’s a pretty good runner and can catch the football, and he’s also a far better blocker than Cadet and White.

Brady’s OL was terrible, but he was missing a lot of the veterans. Bryan Stork missed practice for the 2nd straight time and Nate Solder left during practice for unknown reasons, and Vollmer is still being used in a limited way. That meant rookies David Andrews, Tre Jackson, Shaq Mason, and backups Chris Baker,  and Cameron Fleming as the starting line for Brady. Brady was sacked five times out of his first 10 attempts during 11-on-11s. Rob Ninkovich, Chandler Jones, Jerod Mayo (Mayo and Jones split a sack), Jabaal Sheard, and Zach Moore all got to Brady.

Brady might not play at all in the pre-season opener on Thursday, he’s done that four times in his career (2005, 2008, 2011, 2014).

The Patriots practice today at 1:45 pm but it is not open to the public due to weather.
