The Patriots finished their 9th practice of training camp today and the 6th time in full pads.
Did Not Practice: QB Matt Flynn, WR Julian Edelman, WR Aaron Dobson, WR Matthew Slater, WR Brandon LaFell, RB LeGarrette Blount, RB Dion Lewis, RB Tyler Gaffney, LB Matt Wells, LB Dane Fletcher, LB Eric Martin, LB Darius Fleming, LB Chris White, OL Marcus Cannon, OL Ryan Wendell, C Bryan Stork, OL Caylin Hauptmann, DT Joe Vellano, WR Brian Tyms, TE Scott Chandler, DT Malcom Brown, DT Chris Jones, DT Alan Branch.
QB Tom Brady was 7-7 in team drills, including 2-2 in 7-on-7s and 5-5 during 11-on-11s. Brady ran for a 60 yard touchdown during the session. He rolled out the open side of the field and put the afterburners on all the way for a touchdown. The defense wasn’t playing with much urgency. The starters had an easy day.
QB Jimmy Garoppolo was 13-24 with an interception during team drills, including 3-6 during 7-on-7s and 10-18 with an interception during 11-on-11s. The interception came during the 11-on-11 drills. There were several drops, so his numbers should have been better and the interception was due to a WR juggle the catch into the hands of Logan Ryan.
Belichick wasn’t in love with this practice, ending it with uphill sprints after several huddles during practice.
James White caught a touchdown pass, good sign since there is no Blount for some time.
RB Travaris Cadet went down with an injury, however, making the running back depth even thinner.
Rob Ninkovivch would have had a sack today on Garoppolo if it was allowed.
Jordan Richards had a pass breakup today, his 2nd of camp.
The Patriots have an off day tomorrow, but will return for their 10th practice on Monday at 1:45 pm. It will be open to the public so enjoy!
