The Patriots held their sixth practice of camp last night in shells under the Gillette Stadium lights.

It’s their annual practice for season ticket holders and Foxboro residents.

Did Not Practice: QB Matt Flynn, WR Julian Edelman, WR Matthew Slater, WR Brandon LaFell, RB Dion Lewis, RB Tyler Gaffney, LB Dane Fletcher, LB Darius Fleming, LB Chris White, OL Marcus Cannon, OL Ryan Wendell, OL Caylin Hauptmann, DT Joe Vellano, WR Brian Tyms, DT Chris Jones, DT Alan Branch.

QB Jimmy Garoppolo and the backups handled most of the work last night, and the second year QB really struggled. He was 15-33 overall. His worst throws were a pass that sailed over his intended receiver, a pass that went behind the intended tight end, and a screen pass that was broken up by DE Trey Flowers. It was his worst practice of the camp, his first practice of extended work.

QB Tom Brady was 5-5 in limited reps and completed passes to Brandon Bolden, James White, Jake Bequette, Michael Hoomanawanui and Aaron Dobson. Brady also kicked Garoppolo out of the huddle to get one more rep in, a completion to Jake Bequette.

WR Aaron Dobson had a good night of practice. He beat Logan Ryan in the back of the end zone for a touchdown on Brady’s final throw of the night. He also caught another touchdown from Garoppolo, beating Bradley Fletcher.

Safety Jordan Richards, would have had a sack on Garoppolo, if it were allowed during practice, along with Eric Martin.

Defensive players Darryl Roberts, Jimmy Jean, Trey Flowers, Jonathan Freeny, and Matt Wells all had pass breakups.

Jake Bequette has made a nice transition to tight end. He caught a touchdown from Garoppolo. He caught a pass while taking a hit and kept standing at the goal line and fell forward for the score.

CB Jimmy Jean made a nice pass breakup against a deep ball for Dobson. Jean is 6’3 and when he’s in the right spot passes do not go over him.

WR Josh Boyce made a lot of nice catches, especially on deep balls. He showed off his excellent speed and hands and has had an excellent camp.

WR Brian Tyms did not suffer a severe shoulder injury from practice the other day.

Patriots will practice again tomorrow at 1:45 pm. It is open to the public.
