The Patriots 2015 season is officially underway with the defending Super Bowl Champions opening first day of training camp practices.

A Jets fan had a plane to fly over the practice field with a banner that said, “Look up Cheaters.” It was met with loud boos, of course. They can pay to have banners fly over the Super Bowl Champions practices and then watch the Patriots SB banner be put up in Septemeber, something that hasn’t happened in many decades for them.

Did Not Practice but condition today were Alan Branch, Dominique Easley, Matthew Slater, LeGarrette Blount, Dane Fletcher, Ryan Wendell, Vince Taylor and Matt Flynn.

WR Brandon LaFell was not there at all practicing or conditioning.

Chandler Jones, Dont’a Hightower, Jamie Collins and Sebastian Vollmer practiced but was limited.

Jerod Mayo and Sealver Siliga practiced fully.

QB Tom Brady had the best day of any player despite the fact his appeal was denied by Roger Goodell yesterday. He ran out onto the field with a loud ovation from the fans and “Brady” chants that happen a lot throughout the day. Brady was sharp, completing 27 out of 30 passes today. Two of the incompletions were drops. Brady was 10-10 in 7-on-7s and 17-20 in 11-on-11s. Brady took all of the first-team reps. He threw 5 straight touchdown passes during 7-on-7s. Three to Julian Edelman and one each to tight ends Gronk and Chandler. Brady also caught a touchdown pass which fans went crazy for. Brady handed the ball off to Bolden, who tossed it to Edelman on a sweep, who then threw the football to a wide-open Brady. Brady made a one-handed catch and then tiptoed down the sidelines, sticking the ball over the pylon. It was amazing and athletic.

QB Jimmy Garoppolo looked sharp during practice. He was 28 of 36 during team drills today. He was 9-10 with an interception during 7-on-7s and 19-27 during 11-on-11s. He’s still slow to release the football and tends to stare down an intended target, but proved he could spread the ball around well today. He threw a nice touchdown to Rob Gronkowski.

TE Rob Gronkowski was one of Brady’s favorite targets-as usual- catching everything in sight. He made a nice touchdown grab in traffic over safety Tavon Wilson. He caught several passes in traffic. Scott Chandler was also a favorite of Brady’s today.

WR Brian Tyms and Aaron Dobson are engaged in a very interesting battle for the number four spot. Tyms caught everything thrown his way while Dobson also logged in a successful first day of camp.

WR Julian Edelman was incredible today. He caught 9 of 27 passes. He also caught 3 touchdowns from Brady during the 7-on7s. He’s great and we all know that. He also threw a touchdown pass to Tom Brady today. The highlight of practice.

Rookie Safety Jordan Richards intercepted a Jimmy Garoppolo endzone throw today. That’s all the defensive note for today, as the offense dominated, but the defense will get their shot on Saturday when they will practice in pads.

Jeff Howe broke down the players who caught a Tom Brady pass today.

“Brady’s completions went to the following: Edelman (nine), Chandler (six), Gronkowski (four), Amendola (three), Josh Boyce (two), Dobson (one), Jonas Gray (one), Brandon Bolden (one).”

Owner Robert Kraft walked out to a whole lot of cheers today and signed some autographs, including a “Free Brady” poster.
