Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski won an ESPY Award for Best Comeback Athlete on Wednesday, beating out Derrick Rose, Lindsay Vonn, and Alex Rodriguez.
Gronk returned in 2014 from a season-ending ACL tear in 2013 and a string of other injuries to lead all tight ends in receiving yards (1,124 yards) and 12 touchdowns and ranking fourth in receptions with 82.
He was an All-Pro selection and won the NFL honors of comeback player and a Super Bowl Ring.
During his speech, he gave advice to other athletes battling injuries.
“When you get down,” he said. “You put mind over matter, and you do everything possible to get back to where you started.”
