The NFL’s suspension of Tom Brady has done nothing but increase his popularity when it comes to jersey sales for fans.
In the month of May, Brady ranked third in all NFL jersey sales, behind two rookie QB’s – Titans rookie QB Marcus Mariota and Buccaneers rookie QB Jameis Winston.
The ranking is based on sales on the NFL’s official online store from May 1-May 31.
Brady is appealing his four-game suspension for his alleged role in Deflategate, the incident regarding under inflated footballs in the AFC Title win over the Colts.
The ranking is surprising not only because it suggests strong support for Brady over the past month, but also because he has been in the same jersey for the past 15 seasons, more than any other player in the top 25 best-selling jerseys in May.
The Super Bowl champion Patriots finished the month as the best-selling team, followed by the 49ers and Seahawks.
1. Marcus Mariota, Titans
2. Jameis Winston, Buccaneers
3. Tom Brady, Patriots
4. Russell Wilson, Seahawks
5. Odell Beckham Jr., Giants
