NFL First Round Mock Draft

These things are like March Madness, you’re really just guessing, so here’s my best guess for tonight’s draft. NOT taking in consideration of trades happening, which is likely. Like maybe Titans and Browns trade? Who knows, but I won’t do that trade game here. Take a look below!

1. Buccaneers: QB Jameis Winston.

They need a QB and we know they want him.

2. Titans: OG Brandon Scherff.

Titans need OL. They have to protect their 2nd year QB Zach Mettenberg and I don’t buy into them wanting Mariota with this pick. They had Locker, a running QB, would they try again so soon with another runner? Doubt it. They run a pro style offense, so I think they will give their young QB another year to grow and get him some good protection up front. The Mariota thing might be smoking mirrors to get a team, (Browns), to trade up with them. Or, maybe they do like him.

3. Jaguars: DE Dante Fowler.

They would love the hometown kid with a big Gator fan base to stay right there in Florida. They need defensive help and they need to rush the passer. Fowler is the best in the draft at doing just that.

4. Raiders: WR Amari Cooper.

I don’t care what anybody says, Cooper is the best wide out in this draft bar none. He can do everything. Go deep, run routes, run screens, etc. He was the Alabama Crimson Tide’s entire passing offense last year. He’s battle tested and ready to go for Carr and the Raiders.

5. Redskins: DT Leonard Williams.

They are a team that needs everything: QB, WR, OL, and defense. They are also the Redskins which makes them unpredictable. They might take Williams, whose a beast in this draft and help build up a very poor defense. If they make this pick, it’ll be a very good pick.

6. Jets: OT Andrus Peat.

They need linemen on the offensive line. They have to protect the QB better, which is something they stink at, but it’s the Jets, so who knows. I will let you in on a secret, though I think the Jets trade down with the Browns if the Browns and Titans haven’t struck a deal.

7. Bears: OLB Vic Beasley.

Honestly, I sat here for 15 minutes trying to figure this one out. Who will they get? If Kevin White is still on the board do you really not take him if your the Bears? But, they had two great outside threats before and didn’t make the postseason, so why not get somebody to protect poor Jay Cutler!? Then, I was like their defense is an embarrassment, so maybe that’s where they go. At LB, no one is better than Beasley.

8. Falcons: DE Bud Durpee.

They need an impact player ASAP on the DL. They need pass rush and Durpee is one of the better ones. The Falcons could move up to get Fowler, so this remains to be seen.

9. Giants: OG Ereck Flowers.

Giants need better protection for their QB and they can get that with pick number 9.

10. St. Louis Rams: WR Kevin White.

They would be beyond happy if White fell to them. They need more weapons and they could use OL, but how could they actually pass up an explosive deep threat like White? I don’t think they could, especially since they found their QB in a trade with the Eagles earlier. This is a good way to make Foles happy, and then stock up on OL in the later rounds.

11. Vikings: CB Trae Waynes.

They need corners. They are getting closer to being better, it will take a few more free agencies and drafts, but they are inching their way to being halfway decent.

12. Browns: QB Marcus Mariota.

I’ve kept Mariota off the board for this reason. I think the Browns may get him here, but better chance is they move up and take him. Trade partners could be the Jets, who would like to move down, or the Titans, who would love to take a lot of picks from Cleveland. This is so a Browns like move.

13. Saints: DE Shane Ray.

They need defense all day, everyday. Shane Ray has been taken some hits and sliding down the draft board. He and Randy Gregory are a long shot guess at where they will fall. For now, Ray will go first. Remeber, I’m guessing.

14. Dolphins: CB Marcus Peters.

They could go OL or RB, but here I’am playing I hope they don’t draft Todd Gurley. Take a corner Miami, you need one.

15. 49ers: DT Danny Shelton.

The 49ers are a mess, but they do need to fill this position and this would be a good pick.

16. Texans: WR DeVante Parker.

They need a wide out and they would be over the moon if Parker fell this far to them. It’s a long shot, but maybe.

17. Chargers: RB Todd Gurley.

I would rather Chargers get him than Miami, and I think they would if he made it this far. If not, look for an OL. They need those too.

18. Chiefs: C Cameron Erving.

They need help on the OL bad. They could go Center or tackle. Doesn’t matter, they need OL help as badly as I need a cheeseburger right now.

19. Browns: WR Jalen Strong.

They need more OL and DL or LB, but they could use help at wide out or even tight end. Basically, no matter the QB who is he going to throw to?

20. Eagles: CB Byron Jones.

They need secondary and Jones would make an excellent fit. They could go FS or SS. They might even go WR. We shall see tonight.

21. Bengals. OT D.J. Humphries.

Cincy could take a WR to help out Green and Dalton or they could take an OT to help the line and Dalton out.

22. Steelers: SS Landon Collins.

Troy P is gone. They need another SS, they also need a corner. They could get a pass rusher. They need any and everything defense basically.

23. Lions: RB Melvin Gordon.

I’m weary of adding two running backs in the first round, but it might happen. Gordon and Gurley are both good backs and the Lions would love to have one. They also need a DT.

24. Cardinals: CB Kevin Johnson.

A big guy who has the potential to be good.

25. Panthers: OT La’el Collins.

Not sure about this because of his recent troubles, but he would be a good pick for a team that needs OL.

26. Ravens: WR Breshad Perriman.

They might look to add a replacement for Torrey Smith.

27. Cowboys: DT Arik Armstead.

They need help up front and they would love it if this guy fell to them. Your welcome Dallas, if only in the mock draft dream.

28. Broncos: OT Jake Fisher.

They need help at the OL spot. Gotta protect Peyton Manning.

29. Colts: DT Malcolm Brown.

They need help on the defensive side of the ball. They need better line and safety play. Could go either way. They also can’t stop the run, so this would help.

30. Packers: LB Eric Kendricks.

They need this guy. They hope he falls to them. They would love a guy who can help out their LB spot and allow Matthews to rush the passer.

31. Saints: WR Phillip Dorsett.

They would love to add a tight end, but probably will in the second round. Adding another weapon for Brees never hurt anyone.

32. Patriots: DE Randy Gregory.

He would be a huge and I mean HUGE get and steal here. I kept him off the board so far, hoping he might actually land here. He has troubling issues off the field that might make other teams scared of him. He has talent and if he’s here the hoodie might take him. They may take an OL here, which they need to at some point in the draft or a WR like Devin Smith. Smith played for Meyer and Belichick and Meyer are friends. Wouldn’t surprise me. Also, any Rutgers player could be at play.
