Patriots sign DE Jabaal Sheard to a 2 year deal

The New England Patriots have signed former Browns DE Jabaal Sheard to a 2 year deal worth $11 million dollars with $5 million guaranteed.

The defensive end had 44 tackles this past season with 2 sacks and 3 passes defended.

It was a drop off from his previous 4 seasons in the NFL, but probably due to injuries as he only started 5 games last season. He did have 30 total QB pressures.

He had 8.5 sacks in 2011, 7 sacks in 2012, 5.5 in 2013, and 2 sacks in 2014.

The Patriots and many believe he has potential to be even better and with New England, he might be able to reach that potential.

He’s a good player and plays mostly DE, and can play LB. He’s a pass rusher, something the Patriots need and want.

A fresh start in New England may be what the doctor ordered.

The Patriots liked him coming out of the draft and when he came to town to visit they didn’t let him leave without a contract.

This is a good pass rusher and will help the Patriots out on the DL. He will help out Nink and Jones too.
