Darrelle Revis left the Patriots to return to the New York Jets, signing a 5 year deal worth $70 million dollars and $39 million guaranteed. He will make guaranteed $16 million and $17 million for the next two seasons, and in 2017, $6 million of his $17 million salary is guaranteed.

Revis came to the Patriots last season after the Buccaneers let him go and was a vital piece of the Championship defense, but this year he would have been a $20 million dollar cap hit, so the Pats didn’t pick up that option.

Revis went to the Patriots to do three things: win a ring, show he can still play, and cash in this year. He has accomplished all of that, so after helping the Patriots, bitter rivals of the Jets, win their 4th Super Bowl, he bolted back to the gang green money machine.

He might not win a lot anymore, but he’s sure gonna be rich losing. It all works out for Revis, a Super Bowl ring and then a final massive contract with the Jets. The place he’s wanted to be all along and a place he calls home.

“I want to thank the Pats and Pats Nation for an unbelievable year. NEW YORK I’m coming home.  #jetsnation,” the all-pro corner tweeted after the deal was done.

Thanks for an awesome season Revis, it was fun and a joy to watch you do your thing during the 2014 season and get your ring and our 4th banner with the New England Patriots.
