New England Patriots Super Bowl Champs

Jerry Rice The Hypocrite

Jerry Rice, unintentionally has proved that a lot of teams and players have always looked for an edge against other teams, yet he’s been a huge hypocrite against the Patriots after admitting he used an illegal spray adhesive.

Jerry Rice has gone hard at the New England Patriots for deflate gate back in January.

‘I’m going to be point blank, I feel like it’s cheating,” Rice told Jim Rome on January 22.  “Because you have an edge up on your opponent and its unfortunate that it happened.  I’m not saying the outcome of the game would have been different or anything like that because they got beat 45-7, but they still had an edge.”

He kept going by bringing in his own experience playing in cold weather.

I’ve played in cold weather, I know how hard the football is and you can grip the leather [if deflated] just a little bit better,” said Rice.

He also thinks an asterisk should be put beside the Patriots Super Bowl win.

“I think it’s a great achievement to get to the Super Bowl so many times and to be so close to winning,” said Rice. “But if they win this Super Bowl, I feel like there’s going to be an asterisk put on it. When people think about the New England Patriots they’re going to think about Spygate and those under inflated footballs and I think a lot of the players they’re going to be tied to that.”

He didn’t stop there, he then went on to basically pat himself on the back for doing things the right way, forgetting I guess he admitted to using illegal stickum in his day the day before deflate gate happen.

“I’ve always wanted to do things the right way,” Rice said. “I didn’t want to take any short cuts or anything like that.”

HAHAHA! Yeah, sure Rice!

Before deflate gate and before these comments from Jerry Rice, he was on ESPN when they were doing a segment about NFL gloves and the SB winning wide out said he used stickum during his playing days.

“I know this might be a little illegal, guys, I just put a little spray, a little stickum on them, to make sure that texture is a little sticky,” Rice says in the video that was unearthed by the readers over at ProFootballTalk.com.

Stickum was banned in 1981 by the NFL and Rice began playing in the NFL in 1985. It was illegal when he played yet he used it.

Rice was and still is the best wide out ever, but yet it’s still an edge and he still did something illegal, just like he said about the Patriots.

Should we put asterisks next to your 3 Super Bowls Jerry Rice?
