New England Patriots Super Bowl Champs

Ray Lewis says the Tuck Rule is the only reason people know Tom Brady

Former Ravens linebacker, 2x Super Bowl Champion, and a future Hall of Famer Ray Lewis went on Stephen A. Smith’s Mad Dog Radio Show and said some really odd things about Tom Brady.

“Honest to God, the first time we created something called a tuck rule is the only reason we know — I’m just being honest — the only reason we know who Tom Brady is, because of a tuck rule. There’s no such thing as a tuck rule. If the ball is in your hand and I knock it out your hand, whether it’s going backwards, forwards, lateral, sideways — however it’s coming out, that’s a freakin’ fumble. But guess what we created? We created a freakin‘ tuck rule. … Man, there are certain rules that should not be allowed to be in this game of football.”

“They don’t go to that championship game if that ball [isn’t] called a tuck. That’s a fumble. That man clearly fumbled the ball. And they named it a tuck rule — something we never heard in today’s game. So now you’ve got to ask yourself: When did the legacy really start?”

I was confused because it’s clear he’s talking and mad about NFL rules, such as the tuck rule, but then went on this  whole we only know Brady because of that rule rant.

He’s called Brady the best of the best before, so I was taking back by this, but I think he just got fired up and got off topic and confused himself.

Brady was asked about Ray Lewis’s comment and he was laid back about it.

Everyone has an opinion,” Brady said Thursday, according to WEEI.com. “I think Ray is a great player. He’s a first-ballot Hall of Famer. I was fortunate enough to play against him.”

Ray Lewis took to Twitter to clear up the mess.

“To clarify my comments from this week:I was trying to express my frustration about the Tuck Rule itself….

I have immense respect for Tom Brady and everything he has achieved in this league. He will go down as one of the all-time greats.”
