Ravens Vs Patriots: Keys To The Game

Tomorrow is the day, the day when the Patriots play in the first – round of the NFL playoffs and a day that decides if they keep playing the next weekend. They play tomorrow evening against their rivals of Balitmore and it should be a good one. This game has all the makings to be a Heartbreaker, a close one, or a blow out. The scary thing is, not knowing which one will happen for certain.

But, here are the 3 keys that will win the game for New England.

1. Protect Tom Brady: That’s it. The entire game comes down to the Patriots protecting Tom Brady from the Ravens blitzes and pass rush. They don’t get much pressure from their ends, but they do get it from their linebackers, mainly Suggs and Dumervil. If the Pats can avoid a lot of obvious passing downs and pick up the blitzes they should be fine. When the linebackers rush and blitz, the Pats line has to pick them up, a big weakness in the last few games of the season. At one point, they were handling the blitzes and rush well then not so much, so which line shows up will determine a lot in this game, but if they protect Brady the Pats will win and probably win easily. They have to take away two guys and that’s it.

2. Stop The Run: Bam defense. That’s the biggest thing they have to do tomorrow, stop Justin Forsett. He’s a big part of their offense and if he gets loose the defense will be in for a long day and a close game, but if the Pats can stop him then they make the Ravens depend on the pass. The run defense has to show up and the number one goal is to stop Forsett.

3. Get Open: Wide outs get open tomorrow, please and do it fast. The Ravens have a very good rush defense, so forget running successfully, but they have a bad secondary, so let’s throw it. But, in order to do that the Pats need their guys to get open. LaFell, Edelman, and Gronk have to get open and not let the jams at the line affect them. They just have to beat them and be physical. LaFell really needs to find his groove again because if he does, then the Pats will find things easier in the passing game.
