I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!

The Pats will be back at practice today and I’ll be talking about the 3 players to watch for in Sunday’s game against the bills.

The question is how much will the starters play and which ones? If Brady is expected to play the majority of the game because the offense hasn’t been great then he needs all the starters and that includes Edelman, who sat out last week. If New England isn’t concerned with that and rather be cautious, which I think they should be, then sit Edelman and Gronk. Of course, Gronk will most likely play a half.

I don’t want the starters to play the entire game, a half is fine, but not the entire game, all because I really want to see the backups (Garoppolo) in a game. It would be fun to see Jimmy Garoppolo go up against Buffalo for the entire game, but with a bye week locked up, Brady will play half, at the very least.

1. QB Jimmy Garoppolo: He’s a guy I do NOT want to see play in a meaningful game right now, but would love to see play and see what he does in a week 17 game against a playoff eliminated Bills team. He might play on Sunday, but I have no idea how long he will, if he does at all, but if he plays, he’s worth watching. He will face a Bills team that will play all starters and it would be interesting to see how he handles that.

2. RB Jonas Gray: He’s out of the dog house and back on the playground, now he needs to keep it that way. Gray should get more carries on Sunday against a good Bills line and hopefully it will show how good he is and give him more touches going forward. It’s all about proving himself before the postseason. It’s all about getting that Pats run game going again.

3. WR Danny Amendola: If Brady would throw to him too, along with Edelman, LaFell, and Gronk the Pats would have no shortage of capable pass-catchers who can move the sticks. Amendola has to continue to prove himself before round one of the postseason. The Jets were a good start and now he can finish the season with an exclamation point against the Bills.
