Dolphins Vs Patriots: Keys To The Game

The Dolphins travel to the cold Gillette Stadium tomorrow to face the New England Patriots in a very important game. The Pats need the win to maintain their first – round bye and the Dolphins need a win or they can kiss their playoff hopes goodbye.

The Pats have struggled on the road against the Dolphins but dominated them at home and luckily enough for New England, they’re at home tomorrow.

Still, they have to bring their A game to take down the Miami Dolphins and here’s how they do it.

1. Stop Miami’s Run Game: The first meeting saw the Dolphins run all over the New England Patriots and beat them easily, so tomorrow the Pats have to stop the run. I wouldn’t be surprised if Miami comes out running to see if they can have the same result, so New England has to set the tone early that they can’t. Make Miami one – dimensional and that will help the Patriot defense succeed.

2. Protect Tom Brady: Another area New England failed their team at was protecting Tom Brady. They let Brady hit the ground a lot, get hurried, and sacked throughout the game in Miami. They did most of that against the Chargers, and the offense struggled, they gotta play much better as a unit. Brady needs to be protected against Miami’s rush because they have a very good one. They need to take Wake away and go from there. If they can keep Brady standing and comfortable the Pats will score some points.

3. Establish The Run: New England has the tendencies to sometimes get away from the run very early on and never really go back to it. They did that against Green Bay and San Diego, but succeeded at that against the Colts, which is something they need to do tomorrow. Miami’s run defense isn’t great and New England can try to take advantage of it and use the run to slow down the aggressive Miami pass rush and set up the oh so good play action. The run game can be another weapon against Miami’s pass rush tomorrow.
