Patriots Vs Chargers Preview

Tom-Brady-vs-Chargers

Sunday Night Football is upon us! The game between the Patriots and Chargers is about to played in less than 24 hours! Rivers Vs Brady again. The Pats seem to have the Chargers number the last few times they have met, but this will be on the road for the Brady bunch, so it will be tough sledding, but they can handle it.

The Patriots will look to establish the run against the Chargers 15th rank run defense, but they will pass a lot, they always do. The Chargers have the 7th best pass defense, so it could be tough. The Pats need to play Jonas Gray tomorrow night against the Chargers run defense and let him bruise them to open up the pass. I think we will see him more, hopefully we will. The Patriots will probably use LaFell a lot, since Flowers will be on Edelman. I’m guessing, but that’s what I think, if not, then Edelman will be big tomorrow. Gronk will need to get back in the end zone as well, Wright might get a touchdown if they double up on Gronk. The most important thing the Pats will need to do is win at the line and protect Brady better and establish the run. Throw later on. They can score against this defense.

On defense, the Patriots will look to stop the pass. Rivers and San Diego throw a lot and a lot to Keenan Allen and Gates. I think Browner will handle Floyd and Gates when he switches back and forth and Revis will shut down Allen. By doing this, Rivers will turn over the ball a lot and I expect a few turnovers by him and that Chargers O. The biggest question is when Browner isn’t on Gates, who will be and can they stop him? The Pats run defense can’t take the day off though, they have to contain Mathews to make sure the passing game is the only thing the Chargers got tomorrow night. Taking the run away altogether will hurt the Chargers offense. They also need to get pressure, since they got none on Rodgers last week. Rivers doesn’t pose the threat of running so they can pin their ears back and go after him, it’s the best way to get to him and rattle him. Rivers under pressure turns it over a lot and also destroys that offense. Their OL isn’t great either and blitzing is the Pats best way to get to a QB, so I expect to see it work a lot tomorrow.
