Patriots Vs Chargers: Keys To The Game

The Patriots will play in a little over 24 hours against the Chargers on SNF, a time slot the Patriots have been good. The Chargers and Patriots both are great Decemeber teams, which means something has to give tomorrow night.

Here are the keys for New England to maintain their number one seed.

1. Protect Tom Brady: This shouldn’t be too hard against a Chargers team that doesn’t generate much pressure. They have to handle the blitz much better than they did last week, however, so there’s that. Keeping Tom Brady standing and feeling comfortable is a good way to ensure the Pats not only score but win the game.

2. Stop the Pass: Keenan Allen catches a lot of passes so Revis will be on him and if he can shut him down the Pats defense should fare much better tomorrow. Also, Malcolm Floyd is the Chargers deep guy, he makes a lot of big plays, and he will face Brandon Browner. If Browner does his job the Chargers two top guys will be taken away from Rivers, which will hurt their effectiveness. Now, can the Pats find their 3rd CB to shut down Royal? We will see, but the Pats defense should shut down the number 1 and 2 and force turnovers against the Chargers.

3. Play Jonas Gray: I expect the Pats to pass a lot, but they gotta get their run game back and they have to play Jonas Gray. Without Ridley, Gray is the best runner on the team. Blount has done good, but come on now, play Gray, who has a little MarShawn Lynch in him.
