The Patriots dominated the first place Lions in a battle Sunday afternoon. The Lions brought in the first place ranked defense and the Patriots were bringing in one of the hottest offenses in the NFL. The Patriots offense won the battle. Between the staggering Lions offense and the dominate Pats defense, the Pats defense won easily, 34 – 9.

The Pats defense held the Lions to only 9 points, and no touchdowns. The Lions haven’t scored a touchdown in 2 games, against the Cardinals and Patriots.

Revis was on fire against Megatron and Golden Tate. Stafford was 1 of 10 when targeting Revis for 17 yards. Revis had 4 pass breakups and two 3rd down stops. Tate against Revis was 1 of 7 for 17 yards, tight end Ebron was 0 of 2, and Johnson was 0 of 1.

Stafford was 3 of 8 when targeting Browner for 46 yards. Browner had 2 pass breakups. Johnson was 3 of 7 against Browner, and Tate was 0 of 1.

Stafford had nowhere to pass and no one to pass it too.

The secondary was great and the run defense held up when they needed to. Defense was a huge reason why the Pats were able to dominate.

On offense, the Pats scored a lot of points against a great defense. The OL led the way by blocking and holding the Lions DL in check. Brady was tough though, he took more than a few hits yet didn’t get rattled like he would before. He stood tall and threw the ball with accuracy. He has to take some off his deep passes though, as he continues to overthrow them. The Lions defense did one thing well, they held Gronk in check and allowed no touchdowns to him by double teaming him, yet that left Tim Wright open. Wright found himself alone twice in the red zone and caught both touchdown passes. Edelman and LaFell led the way out of the wide outs. They delivered when the Pats needed them to. The Pats didn’t run a lot, but they had some success on the ground against the best rush defense. Blount was welcomed back, he scored twice on the ground for the Patriots. They held out Gray, most likely because of him showing up to a meeting and practice late.

The protection, Edelman, and Wright won the game on offense, of course, so did that Brady guy too. Revis and Browner won it on defense.

Notable Stats:

QB Tom Brady: 38/53 for 349 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception.

RB LeGarrette Blount: 12 rushing attempts for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns.

WR Brandon LaFell: 9 catches for 98 yards.

WR Julian Edelman: 8 catches for 89 yards.

TE Tim Wright: 5 catches for 36 yards and 2 touchdowns.

LB Akeem Ayers: 3 tackles and 1 sack.

DE Rob Ninkovich: 1 tackle and 1 sack.

CB Logan Ryan: 1 tackle and interception.

Game MVP: Tight End Tim Wright.

He stepped up in the red zone and gave Tom Brady someone to throw to. Gronk being doubled up on, Brady needed someone to throw the ball too, and Wright became that guy in the red zone. LaFell did great stepping up and so did Edelman, but Wright caught the touchdowns when they needed them.  Revis could easily take this award for his effort, but for now Wright deserves some credit.
