The Pats are enjoying a much needed bye week after routing the Bears and Broncos in back-to-back games. I thought this would be a great time to talk about the most important Patriots players moving forward on offense.

Here’s my ranking of the 5 most important players on offense.

1. QB Tom Brady: Of course, the QB is number one. Brady is the most important player on the entire team, without him, the Pats wouldn’t win very many games, and as long as he stays healthy, the Pats are Super Bowl contenders. Tom Brady is so good that he saw his OL struggle from time to time, so he helps them out by improving on his mobility in the pocket and throwing on the run. That’s a great QB for you.  Now, even when the OL breaks down Brady still don’t get sacked thanks to improve movements by the QB and improve throwing on the run. The OL deserves the majority of the credit for Brady being protected, but Brady deserves about 20% of the credit for his improve movement that has taken away a few sacks.

2. Center Bryan Stork: This pick may surprise you guys, but the offense got hot when the OL started blocking better after the Chiefs game. The guy who emerged to allow New England to get settled was rookie center Bryan Stork. His ability to play center allowed the veteran Ryan Wendell to move over to RG and Dan Connolly to stay at LG along with Vollmer and Solder at the tackles. When Stork was out the Pats managed and did good, but their line is better with him in there. The starting lineup is important and losing any of them, especially Stork, will be a huge blow. Stork’s ability at center is great, can’t be said enough how good he is playing. Basically, you can put the entire OL here.

3. TE Rob Gronkowski: The Pats are almost impossible to stop when Gronk is healthy. He’s the most important pass-catcher on the team. He’s big and athletic with great hands. He’s a red zone threat and Brady’s favorite target, to be Super Bowl favorites, they need Gronk out there.

4. WR Julian Edelman: Minitron is Brady’s go-to guy on the field. He’s Welker, but better. Edelman had a huge game against the Broncos and helped the Pats to win in a big way. He’s the chain mover, the dependable wide out, and punt returner. He’s the guy Brady trust and a guy New England needs out there every week.

5. WR Brandon LaFell: LaFell is emerging as a guy who can help out every week with Gronk and Edelman and that’s huge for Tom Brady to have a legit 3rd guy. If all three weapons stay healthy it will be hard for any time to slow down the New England offense. LaFell can go deep and run routes and be a red zone threat. A MR. Do it all. I hope Brady is working on his deep throws so he won’t overthrow LaFell when the team takes on the Colts.
