In less than 24 hours from now the Patriots will play host to the Chicago Bears in a very interesting matchup for both teams. The most intriguing battle has to be the Pats defense against the Bears offense because what a huge test for the Patriots defensive unit.

The run game will be elite for the Pats defense to stop and two of the best offensive weapons will be on display against the Pats secondary. What a game and great matchups for the Pats. This is a must watch.

If the Pats want to win, they need to win almost all the battles on defense.

1. RB Matt Forte Vs DT Vince Wilfork: Big Vinny can’t be happy with the way his defensive line performed against the Jets running game, so how do they bounce back? Look, it all starts with Wilfork on the line and how he performs. He’s a big guy and he has to clog up the entire middle and then get some help with the other defenders. It’s no secret teams loved to run at Chandler Jones, who wasn’t very good at stopping the run so whoever takes over for Jones has to stop the run. I would love to see Hightower play DE or Easley and we will see that. Hopefully it helps Wilfork and the run defense and they stop Matt Forte. Wilfork and Casey Walker and Alan Branch have to get a big push up front and win the battle. If they do that they will be successful in stopping the run. Also, the entire defense has to be able to TACKLE. I still believe in Wilfork and I know he’s still good and I hope he proves it even more tomorrow.

2. DE Willie Young Vs RT Sebastian Vollmer: This is a big matchup to watch. The Bears DL can get after the quarterback from the ends and from the tackles, so it was tough to pick one matchup but I went with this one. Willie Young has 7 sacks on the season in 7 games. Young has 29 tackles, 7 sacks, 1 FF, 1 KB, and 1 pass defended. Young is having a heck of a season and Vollmer will have his hands full. Brady has been protected for the past 3 weeks and the Pats have scored a lot of points, so the Pats will score if the OL does their job. This line won’t be like the Jets and not rush many, they will rush them all. The pressure will be on. The DT Stephen Paea has 4 sacks and DT Jeremiah Ratliff has 3.5 sacks. So, Stork and Connolly and Wendell will have their hands full too. Everybody has to perform but especially Vollmer. Big matchup tomorrow. If Vollmer can win it, then the Pats should put up points.

3. WR Alshon Jeffery Vs CB Brandon Browner: Jeffery is a 6’3, 216 pound freak for the Bears with great hands. He has caught 33 passes on the season for 504 yards and 2 touchdowns. I like Revis on Marshall but this matchup could hurt the Pats if they can’t stop Jeffery. Browner is 6’4 and 221 pounds. He’s got the size to take on Jerffery in a one-on-one battle. Browner says he much more ready this week and in much better shape and he’s ready to go, so we will see tomorrow. You have to go with Browner first on Jeffery because nobody else on the team, not even Dennard is the size of Jeffery nor the speed. Browner will have a great test tomorrow and if he and Revis can shut down these two wide outs, the Pats should win and wow the confidence for the remainder of the season.
