Marshall Faulk blasts Bill Belichick’s drafting past

Former Super Bowl winning running back with the St. Louis Rams, Marshall Faulk, had harsh words for Bill Belichick and the drafting history he’s had with New England.

On the NFL Network Thursday Night, before the Packers and Vikings game, Faulk offered his two cents on what’s going on in New England.

“We have to look at him and say Bill Belichick has drafted awfully. Some of these guys that they’ve drafted, especially receivers to help Tom Brady, they’ve just not even come close to helping,” Faulk said. “When you think about the best two things that happened to Tom Brady: Randy Moss and Wes Welker. That’s it. They didn’t draft either of those guys.”

Faulk’s Rams lost to the Patriots in the 2001 Super Bowl.

Bill Cowher, former Steeler Super Bowl winning head coach, also talked about what’s going on in Boston, but blamed it on the loss of a coach.

“One of the biggest losses that has gone overlooked is the loss of Dante Scarnecchia,” Cowher said. “Their quarterback is not comfortable in the pocket, he’s not making connections with the outside receivers. … You can’t underestimate the importance of an offensive line coach.”

The Patriots have heard this kind of thing all week after they were blown out by the Chiefs on Monday Night. Blame has been tossed on Brady, the defense, the offensive line, the wide outs, the coaching staff, the front office, and the ownership of the Patriots.

The Pats have a chance to make it all go away this Sunday with a needed win over the Bengals.
