The Patriots host their season opener today against the Oakland Raiders.

The Patriots defense looked good last week against the Vikings, sacking Matt Cassel 6 times and getting 4 interceptions, but the offense didn’t look so good. They will look to begin rolling against the lowly 0-2 Raiders.

The Patriots should win this game and the Pats should never feel in danger of losing this one, but there is always a way to lose because NO team is unbeatable.

Darren McFadden is the guy New England has to watch for especially with our DL. They played better last week, but no Adrian Peterson. McFadden is fast, big, tough, strong, and hard to bring down. New England has to stop the run and force the rookie QB Derek Carr to beat them. That’s really the entire key to winning on defense.

On offense, protect Tom Brady. It comes down to that because he will find Edelman or Gronk when he has time. It will be interesting to see IF any other wide receiver can step up. Will Danny Amendola continue to be a ghost or will he reappear for the first real time since the Steelers game last year. Will Dobson finally grow into the receiver we all thought he would be when the Pats drafted him last year? Will LaFell make an impact? If they can’t against the Raiders then it’s not happening this season. Somebody else has to step up at some point this season, Brady and New England would love some confidence they can and if they don’t tomorrow the Pats should still win the game but it concerns you for the future.

To beat the Raiders the Pats will look to stop the run and make Oakland throw and on offense they will look to protect Brady and run the ball. It’ll be really simple this week with the Pats game plan.
