The Patriots defense began the day looking like they did last week, but certainly didn’t finish that way. After allowing the Vikings to go up the field on the first series and allowing a Cassel touchdown pass to RB Matt Asiata, the Pats shut down the Vikings for the remainder of the game.

The Pats offense didn’t do anything on their first series, but on the Vikings next series, FS Devin McCouty picked off Matt Cassel and returned it all the way to the one yard line to set up a Stevan Ridley touchdown, which tied the game.

Ridley would finish the game with 101 yards on 25 carries and a touchdown.

Tom Brady didn’t have the best day, but he would lead his team down the field by completing two 13 yard passes to WR Aaron Dobson and FB James Devlin. The drive would lead to a 48 yard field goal by kicker Stephen Gostowski, who made 3 on the day.

Gostowkski made at 48 yards, 47 yards, and 24 yard field goals.

On the next series, Darrelle Revis would make his first interception of the season when Matt Cassel tried to go deep to Greg Jennings, and the interception would lead to a Patriots touchdown.

Tom Brady and Julian Edelman connected a few times before connecting in the corner end zone on a perfectly thrown pass.

Edelman was lights out and the only one really doing anything for Tom Brady on offense, since Gronk was still limited. Edelman finished with 6 catches for 81 yards and a touchdown.

Just before half time, Chandler Jones would block a Blair Walsh field goal and return it 58 yards with 9 seconds left before halftime. The Pats were up 24-7.

Jones had a monster day with 2 sacks and the KB returned for a TD.

The Patriots defensive line fared much better yesterday, stopping Minnesota’s run game. They also got more pressure on the QB and got pressure on Cassel.

Dont’a Hightower had a good game and had two sacks. He was allowed to do what he does best and that’s sack the QB.

The Pats would have 6 sacks total on Mr. Cassel. Hightower (2), Jones (2), Ninkovich (1), and Logan Ryan (1).

Logan Ryan had an interception of Matt Cassel that led to another Patriots field goal. The Pats would kick another to end the game with a final score of 30-7.

Dominique Easley made a diving interception toward the end of the 4th quarter.

The Patriots created a ton of turnovers in this game, picking off Matt Cassel 4 times.

The defense was great and so was the kicking game. The offense was ok, but certainly not great and have plenty to work on, but the Pats got the win, and now have a record of 1-1.
