The Patriots will host the Eagles tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on the NFL Network.

The majority of the starters will play tonight, including Tom Brady, and with that, let’s kick off our 5 must watch players.

5. Kenbrell Thompkins: We will see Thompkins start with Tom Brady tonight, which will be a golden opportunity for Thompkins to show he’s improved from last season and ready to take over the starting X role or he can show why he needs to be cut. Every preseason game will be a big one for Thompkins.

4. Brandon LaFell: I really think the biggest impact from someone not named Edelman in the receiving core will come from Brandon LaFell this season. He’s a big veteran who knows how to play. He can play outside, slot, and tight end. He will be a huge red zone threat for Brady, and if his hands are better, he could have a big year. Tonight, he will, hopefully, start with Tom Brady and show us glimpses of the season to come and that his hands are reliable.

3. Darrelle Revis: Tonight’s the night we see Revis in a Pats preseason game! I thinkI hope! We all want to see him even if it’s one snap. If he defends a pass, or freaking intercepts someone, wait for Twitter and Facebook to explode!

2. Logan Ryan: Ryan has excellent instincts, and he’s a classic ball-hawking corner, but last week he had a horrible, not good, very bad, night against the Redskins. He will have his chance to make up for it and lets all hope he does!

1. The Running backs: Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, and James White will all be interesting and fun to watch tonight. Ridley is the starter right now, but Vereen always sees plenty of snaps, and White has the hype machine working in overtime and both backs could push Ridley’s reps down. Also, Brandon Bolden needs to find a place on this team, and can Roy Finch bounce back? It’s a tight race at running back. The competition will be fun to watch tonight.
