The Patriots took the field today for their first padded practice of training camp.

Did not practice: WR Aaron Dobson (foot), CB Alfonzo Dennard, WR Matthew Slater, WR Jeremy Gallon, DT Dominique Easley (knee), LB Deontae Skinner, T Chris Martin, DB Jemea Thomas, WR Greg Orton, and CB Daxton Swanson.

Tommy Kelly, who started out on the PUP list, practiced today, but on a limited bases.

Darrelle Revis had the best day of any player, he picked off two Tom Brady pass attempts to Julian Edelman.

The first interception came during 1-on-1 drills when Revis undercut the route and the 2nd one came during 11-on-11 drills when Edelman beat Revis, but Revis used his speed to get back in position and turned just as the ball was arriving to grab it. Revis also broke up passes to LaFell and Boyce.

Revis humbly introduced Brady to Revis Island today.

Kenbrell Thompkins didn’t have a good day today. His best play was when Brandon Browner swatted at a pass but missed and Thompkins focused enough to bring it in. The all too familiar drops were back today.

Stevan Ridley, Shane Veeren, and James White had good days today. White had the best day. Brandon Bolden had another forgettable day, he’s not looking good to make the team if he keeps up like this.

In 7-on-7, Brady completed 6 of 10 passes, and in 11-on-11, he completed 8 of 10 with an interception.

Neither backup Quarterbacks had a memorable day.

Mallett went 5 for 6 with an interception during 7-on-7 drills, and 2 of 4 with an interception during 11-on-11s.

Jimmy Garoppolo had his 2nd straight bad day, going 3 for 4 with an interception during 7-on-7 drills, and 3 of 8 with an interception during 11-on-11.

Tom Brady did great at the end of practice during 11-on-11 when he completed 6 straight passes during no-huddle. He threw to Edelman 3 times, twice with Revis in coverage. James White also caught a few passes during the period, and so did Brandon LaFell.

Brady threw to Edelman and Amendola the most today, connecting on 4 of 5 passes to Edelman and 3 of 3 to Amendola during the team’s 7-on-7s and 11-on-11 drills.

Justin Jones had a few bad drops today.

Gronk was limited again today and did not play during the 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills. So far, no one behind Gronk has stepped up.

The defense, especially the secondary, had a big day today.

The Pats will practice again tomorrow at 9:15 a.m.

It will be open to the public.
